You guys don't know how good you have it. You are young. That means you have everything to look forward to. It's nowhere but up from here. You will not always be dominated by others, in a rut, and with any kind of thought behind it, you will not "not be going anywhere".
Try being 55, unjustly getting fired for the first time in your life, stuck with tens of thousands of dollars in bills for your children's education (and some lawyers fees) and when you finally pull the job of your dreams with a 10 year plan to get your finances in order so you can retire without debt, you get cancer. I love my husband but he won't do anything with me but lay on the couch and watch TV. All his outside interests have nothing to do with me and he flat out refuses to do anything I am interested in. No travel, no movies, no visiting with friends. As if we had the money to do those things anyway. And my house. He won't let me get anyone in to fix things because he says its a waste of money since he can do it, and in the meantime it is falling apart. Not the big stuff but things like trim falling off the walls, Light switches that don't work, unfinished renovation jobs that he lost interest in.
No, if you can still write stories in 30 or 40 years that you life sucks, you will have something to complain about.
