Middle aged and scared

I worked for the same company for almost 20 years and it closed when the recession hit in late 2008. I have struggled since then, have had a couple of part time jobs but am unable to find anything permanent. I am a 56 year old woman, alone and terrified. Never ever in my wildest dreams did I think this would be my situation at this time in my life.

I have long gone through my savings, do not qualify for any government support progams. I do not have enough money to pay my rent March 1st. I feel like I have lost part of is harder and harder to put on a brave face and believe that tomorrow will be better. Harder to keep applying for the jobs I don't get. I can't sleep, I can't stop the constant noise in my head...I sometimes wish I could just go to sleep and not wake up. Not sure what I have to live for.

Dear Annie,

Pls know that your help comes from Lord.Psalm says where does my help come?My help comes from the the Lord ,the maker of heaven and earth. Please know that he cares for you.And if this situation you are fighting alone he is there with you.Jst sit and spend some time with Jesus and share your problem and then make a prayer to him and ask jesus to give you a job.keep doing what you are doing applying and hoping. And you will get .YOU WILL GET A JOB>YOU will find a way coz GOD wil make a way.

GOD blesss let me know when you find one at this website.

Can you move in with a family member for a while? Or a friend? If not, start looking at shelters because you do not want to be on the streets at your age. It seems like our generation (over 50) has been marked for death by the current business powers-that-be, but they are not counting on our resilience. Also they will all go belly up soon because of laying off the true hard workers (our generation). We built it over years, they will wreck in months.

I, too, am sick of the God crap. If I made conclusions based on that, I would have no choice but to believe that "God" hates me, has always hated me, and always will hate me.

I agree! I'm fed up to here with comments like "I'll pray for you" or "keep the faith". Wake up people!! THERE IS NO magical, mystical, powerful being up in the sky looking down on us, listening to us and giving us strength. It's all bullshit to the extreme!! Might as well believe in the Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy! Believe in yourself!!! You're the only one who can help YOU!! I also agree with comment no. 2. Think, think, think! about how you can help yourself. If you can move in with a friend or relative, do it today!! I'm going to be making that move myself.

I too am experiencing a similar condition. I have realized that my fear thoughts are my very worst enemies. I do not agree about not praying because praying does work. You have to be persistent in re-directing your mind. I have recorded my own voice onto a voice recorder, stating the things that NEEDED to happen, with a tone of absolute certainty that they will happen (whether I believed it or not) , and listened to it OVER and OVER to replace the negative thoughts that go around and around constantly. You HAVE to stop the chatter somehow. Last but not least, do not keep it a secret that you are in panic and in trouble. The more people you share your story with the more help will come. Generate SUPPORT. You may be surprised what good turns up. p.s. Don't forget to breathe.

TMKvU3 I am curious to find out what blog system you're using? I'm experiencing some minor security issues with my latest site and I'd like to find something more safeguarded. Do you have any solutions?
