Introvert

Sorry I'm introverted. I can't help that. I hate talking to people, yet I have this longing to make friends. But I can't. I can't simply muster up the courage to talk to people. Everyday I tell myself I'll talk to one person in one of my college classes, but I never do. I'm over weight and I know that. I'm trying to lose it but it never seems to go away. When I feel sad and alone I usually turn to food. Trying to quit doing that though and so far it's working, but now I have this void in my life I feel needs to be filled. My roommate is a coddled child who thinks money grows on trees. His parents never taught him any responsibility or the value of a dollar. He constantly calls me a bitch and a pussy to my face but I never retaliate. I can hear the things he says to his friends about me, he doesn't know. We used to be cool until I told him what I really thought about him and he tells me I'm jealous of his friends because I have none. In a way he's true. I wish I could be extraverted, but I'm not. I can't help who I am, or the way I think. Somedays I really think, if I offed myself in my room how long would it take for them to notice? But I can only wish...

I think you're right about telling him that. Ignore what he says behind your back and show him that you don't care two bits. I'm introverted, too btw and i can tell it's really tough being one. People think i'm snob and most of the times misunderstood. But hey i just love being alone. I take pleasure doing things by myself now even w/o the noisy crowd i used to hang out with in high school just to save myself from the bad guys (ya know, bullies). anyway, my advice for you is; try to go outdoors one day and have fun so you're not feeling down and out. Look for friends online, i'm sure you can find one. Join a club in your school to improve your social skill little by little and be an active individual as well. Go to gym and lift weight, don't just sit around feeling crestfallen all day, you know you can do better than that. It's going to be difficult but pls. give it a second thought. Good luck!

Read this book: Quiet, The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by susan Cain. It'll make you proud of being the quiet type, ---you have magic powers that extroverts can only dreams about. Go forth and be yourself -- as you get older, you'll see that the loudmouths and talkers become very tiresome and people will really value you for your ability to think deeply. Also, read some Henry Rollins.
