man alone

I'm alone and a straight 58 year old guy.. There's no doubt about it being alone is difficult. Its as if the world around you is tailored around people with other people, even in the f..k..g supermarkets its; buy this based on 2 people sharing, and so it goes on, at times I feel like I'm invisible. I came from a family of 4 others who are all older than me and we all kind of split up and went in completely different directions, but I hung around the family home, never married, and took care of all the heart breaking things you have to do when someone dies, in this case, my parents. This was 20years ago, and basically, I've been alone in this world ever since. I have had relationships over the years all of which deteriorated after a short time for various reasons. I suppose I should enjoy the freedom of it all and not let the loneliness get to me but that's easier said than done, especially at times like Christmas when I find I have no one to be with. YER I would say that all in all being alone SUCKS!

consider volunteering at a homeless shelter - most take volunteers . Another good place is an animal shelter. Then you can give comfort to others and won't feel alone.

Dear Rob-
You have a choice. Everyday you make choices, and you could easily make the choice to be connected to your siblings. If you are lonely, you have family- Why not work on your relationship with them? You must have nieces and nephews? Strive to foster a relationship with them- If you want to date, then go to an online dating site, create a profile, and see who you meet.
There are ways to meet people and pull yourself out of loneliness. Sure it'll take some work, but it will be worth it! Give it a try- who knows, maybe you might find the love of your life?

What about being 57 years old and married 34 yrs and your husband cheated on you and wants a divorce and you own the same business with him. Now I need a new job, a home. Where do I go. I am all alone I devoted my life to him. I took care of his parents.

Dear Mr. Man Alone; You have to understand that you are the only one that can do anything about your lonely life. If you are that lonely, do as the others are telling you to do, and donate your time to an animal shelter. You can even be a foster for an animal (that is where they stay with you until they can find a permanent home) Or even what would be really good for you is to go to the Human Society and pick yourself out a real nice dog! That dog will love you just as much as you love him. Also, you can take him on walks and meet other people with dogs, and maybe even find a friend. There are also groups that you can get involved in: Look at the Community Reporters in your home area. Take a class. Just make sure you tell yourself every day "I am the only one that can do something about my loneliness" And, do something about it. Jesus loves you don't forget!!!!

At least you're not homeless, an acoholic, or drug addict. You sound like a cool dude. Is there a reason you don't associate w/ your family? You could call or write them. The ppl who commented have given u some good advice. Hope ur life is better.
